[1] Fragrance trên nhãn sản phẩm đại diện cho một hỗn hợp không được tiết lộ của nhiều loại hóa chất và thành phần tạo mùi hương. Chúng có nguy cơ gây kích ứng da. Ngoài ra, Fragrance còn có thể chứa Phthalate – một loại dung môi giúp cố định hương thơm nhưng được khuyến cáo hạn chế tiếp xúc khi mang thai. Mặc dù vậy, khi được sử dụng trong mỹ phẩm và các sản phẩm chăm sóc cá nhân, nồng độ Fragrance thường chỉ chiếm một lượng nhỏ dưới 1%. Ngoài ra, đối với các sản phẩm tắm gội thì các thành phần trong công thức chỉ tồn tại trên da trong vài phút là đã được rửa sạch. Do đó, tỷ lệ hấp thụ của Fragrance (và Phthalate trong Fragrane nếu có) rất thấp, không gây ra rủi ro đáng kể. Tuy nhiên, nếu sở hữu làn da nhạy cảm hoặc có vết thương hở hoặc đang gặp các vấn đề về chàm, ngừa, viêm da cơ địa… thì mẹ vẫn nên hạn chế sử dụng các sản phẩm có chứa Fragrance để đảm bảo an toàn tốt hơn.
[2] Coumarin, Linalool, Limonene, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Salicylate, Geraniol, Hydroxycitronellal, Citral và Citronellol là những thành phần tạo mùi thơm có nguồn gốc từ tự nhiên hoặc tổng hợp. Chúng có nguy cơ gây kích ứng cho làn da nhạy cảm (Nguồn Cosmeticsinfo). Tuy nhiên, khi sử dụng trong các sản phẩm rửa sạch, chúng chỉ tồn tại trên da trong khoảng thời gian rất ngắn nên rủi ro gây kích ứng thấp hơn rất nhiều so với sản phẩm lưu lại trên da. Mặc dù vậy, nếu sở hữu làn da đặc biệt nhạy cảm thì mẹ vẫn nên cẩn thận khi sử dụng các sản phẩm có chứa các thành phần này.
[3] Orange Oil (cam), Tea Tree Oil (tràm trà) và Ginger Oil (gừng) là những loại tinh dầu đã được Hiệp hội các nhà trị liệu bằng hương thơm chuyên nghiệp quốc tế IFPA kết luận có thể sử dụng khi mang thai với nồng độ pha loãng dưới 1%. Ngoài ra, khi sử dụng trong các sản phẩm tắm gội, chúng chỉ tồn tại trên da vài phút là được rửa sạch nên tỷ lệ hấp thụ hầu như rất thấp. Tuy nhiên, các loại tinh dầu kể trên có nguy cơ gây mẩn cảm da do có chứa các thành phần hương thơm dễ bay hơi. Do đó, nếu sở hữu làn da nhạy cảm hoặc đang gặp các vấn đề về chàm, ngứa, viêm da cơ địa… thì mẹ nên ưu tiên chọn các sản phẩm làm sạch không mùi thơm.
[4] Phenoxyethanol là một thành phần bảo quản thường được sử dụng trong mỹ phẩm và các sản phẩm chăm sóc cá nhân. Nó từng được ghi nhận là gây suy yếu hệ thần kinh trung ương và gây nôn mửa, tiêu chảy ở trẻ sơ sinh khi nuốt trực tiếp thành phần này từ kem bôi núm vú khi bú mẹ (Nguồn Campaign for Sage Cosmetics). Tuy nhiên, theo công bố của American College of Toxicology, Phenoxyethanol không gây độc cho phôi thai hoặc thai nhi ở liều lượng có thể gây độc cho mẹ. Đặc biệt, trong các sản phẩm rửa sạch thì Phenoxyethanol chỉ tồn tại trên da trong thời gian rất ngắn nên tỷ lệ hấp thụ rất thấp. Do đó, các sản phẩm làm sạch có chứa Phenoxyethanol được xem là an toàn khi sử dụng trong thời gian mang thai.
[5] Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract (vỏ cây Liễu trắng) được xem là nguồn chiết xuất Salicylic Acid. Tuy nhiên, các salicin trong vỏ cây liễu cần phải có enzyme trong dạ dày mới có thể chuyển hóa thành Saliyclic Acid. Do đó, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract được cho là có rủi ro thấp hơn nhiều so với BHA khi sử dụng ngoài da. Ngoài ra, khi sử dụng trong dầu gội, các thành phần trong công thức chỉ tiếp xúc với da trong khoảng thời gian rất ngắn và với diện tích da nhỏ nên tỷ lệ hấp thụ rất thấp. Do đó, các sản phẩm dầu gội có chứa Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract được xem là có rủi ro thấp để sử dụng khi mang thai. Tuy nhiên, để đảm bảo an toàn tốt hơn thì mẹ nên hạn chế sử dụng các sản phẩm dầu gội có chứa Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract nồng độ cao (đứng gần đầu bảng) hoặc có tiền sử dụng ứng với Aspirin. [6] Salicylic Acid có thể hấp thụ qua da với một lượng nhỏ. Tuy nhiên, các nhà nghiên cứu đã kiểm tra kết quả của những phụ nữ sử dụng Acetylsalicylic Acid liều thấp trong thời kỳ mang thai và không thấy sự gia tăng nguy cơ về các tác dụng phụ như dị tật, sinh non hoặc nhẹ cân cho trẻ khi sinh ra. Do đó, mẹ có thể cân nhắc về việc sử dụng các sản phẩm rửa sạch có chứa BHA < 2% trong thời gian mang thai. Lưu ý nên tránh sử dụng BHA trên diện rộng hoặc vùng da đang bị tổn thương. [7] Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (Avobenzone) là thành phần chống nắng hóa học. Tuy nhiên, khi được sử dụng trong các sản phẩm chăm sóc tóc, có thể vai trò của nó là bảo vệ quang học, giúp cho sản phẩm ổn định, không bị biến đổi khi tiếp xúc với tia UV. Với vai trò này, nồng độ sử dụng của nó thường không cao như trong kem chống nắng. Mặc dù vậy, bản chất của Avobeozone vẫn là một thành phần chống nắng có khả năng hấp thụ qua da và gây nguy cơ rối loạn nội tiết tố. Do đó, để đảm bảo an toàn tốt hơn thì mẹ vẫn nên hạn chế sử dụng các sản phẩm chăm sóc tóc (có tiếp xúc với da đầu) có chứa thành phần này. (Nguồn EWG).
[8] Fragrance /Parfum trên nhãn sản phẩm đại diện cho một hỗn hợp không được tiết lộ của nhiều loại hóa chất và thành phần tạo mùi hương. Nó có nguy cơ gây kích ứng da. Ngoài ra, Fragrance còn có thể chứa Phthalate – một loại chất hóa dẻo thường được sử dụng để tăng cường lưu hương trong nước hoa/mỹ phẩm nhưng được khuyến cáo hạn chế tiếp xúc khi mang thai do có thể ảnh hưởng tiêu cực đến sức khỏe mẹ và thai nhi. Do đó, mặc dù nồng độ Fragrance trong mỹ phẩm thường khá thấp nhưng để đảm bảo an toàn tốt hơn thì mẹ nên hạn chế sử dụng các sản phẩm lưu lại trên da có chứa Fragrance trong thời gian mang thai. [9] Muối Nhôm thường được sử dụng trong lăn khử mùi với tác dụng ngăn mồ hôi, ức chế vi khuẩn gây mùi. Thành phần này có thể hấp thụ qua da và nghiên cứu trên chuột cho thấy rằng việc tiếp xúc với AlCl3 trong thời kỳ mang thai có ảnh hưởng không tốt đến các thông số tăng trưởng của cả mẹ và thai nhi cũng như các cơ quan trong cơ thể, tùy thuộc vào liều lượng. Do đó, việc sử dụng các sản phẩm có chứa muối Nhôm trong thời kỳ mang thai nên được hạn chế, đặc biệt là đối với các vùng da bị tổn thương (khi vừa cạo/wax lông) sẽ làm tăng khả năng hấp thụ của Nhôm vào cơ thể. LƯU Ý:
- Khi mang thai, sự thay đổi nội tiết tố có thể khiến làn da và khứu giác của mẹ trở nên nhạy cảm hơn. Do đó, một số sản phẩm chăm sóc cá nhân có chứa thành phần hương thơm, dù được cho là an toàn nhưng vẫn có thể khiến mẹ bị kích ứng hoặc cảm thấy buồn nôn, khó chịu.
