[1] Phenoxyethanol được cho là có ảnh hưởng tiêu cực đến trẻ sơ sinh. Năm 2008, FDA từng cảnh báo người tiêu dùng không nên mua Kem núm vú Mommy’s Bliss vì có chứa Phenoxyethanol làm suy yếu hệ thần kinh ở trẻ bú mẹ. Tuy nhiên, theo công bố của American College of Toxicology, Phenoxyethanol không gây độc cho phôi thai hoặc thai nhi ở liều lượng có thể gây độc cho mẹ. Do đó, thành phần này có thể cân nhắc sử dụng trong thời gian mang thai nhưng nên hạn chế sử dụng khi đang cho con bú để tránh nguy cơ bé liếm/nuốt phải khi tiếp xúc với da mẹ. Dù vậy, để đảm bảo an toàn tốt hơn, mẹ nên tham khảo thêm ý kiến từ bác sĩ.
[2] Cam Thảo được khuyến cáo không sử dụng quá nhiều trong thời gian mang thai vì có liên quan đến việc tăng huyết áp ở mẹ và giảm trí tuệ ở trẻ khi sinh ra. Tuy nhiên, hàm lượng cam thảo được xác định trong nghiên cứu là 250g (tương đương với một cốc nước/tuần). Hàm lượng này gấp rất nhiều lần so với chiết xuất cam thảo được sử dụng trong mỹ phẩm. [4] PFAS là một nhóm hóa chất có khả năng phân hủy rất chậm. Vì thế, nếu bị phơi nhiễm nó sẽ tồn tại rất lâu trong cơ thể và gây ra nhiều ảnh hưởng tiêu cực cho sức khỏe như giảm chức năng miễn dịch, tăng nguy cơ mắc bệnh về tuyến giáp, ung thư gan, rối loạn lipid máu… Đặc biệt, đối với phụ nữ, việc tiếp xúc với PFAS có liên quan đến bệnh lạc nội mạc tử cung và nếu bị phơi nhiễm trong thời gian mang thai có thể dẫn đến tình trạng nhẹ cân ở trẻ sơ sinh. (*) Salicylic Acid có thể sử dụng với một lượng nhỏ < 2% trong các sản phẩm chăm sóc da mặt. Các nhà nghiên cứu đã kiểm tra kết quả của những phụ nữ sử dụng Acetylsalicylic Acid liều thấp trong thời kỳ mang thai và không thấy sự gia tăng nguy cơ về các tác dụng phụ như dị tật, sinh non hoặc nhẹ cân cho trẻ khi sinh ra (Nguồn PubMed). [5] Fragrance /Parfum trên nhãn sản phẩm đại diện cho một hỗn hợp không được tiết lộ của nhiều loại hóa chất và thành phần tạo mùi hương. Nó có nguy cơ gây kích ứng da. Thành phần này cũng có thể hấp thụ qua da và được tìm thấy trong sữa mẹ. Đặc biệt, Fragrance thường chứa Phthalate – một loại dung môi giúp cố định hương thơm nhưng có thể hoạt động như hormone và can thiệp vào nội tiết tố cơ thể. Ngoài ra, các công bố gần đây từ Harvard còn cho thấy rằng việc mẹ tiếp xúc với Phthalate trong thời kỳ mang thai có thể làm tăng khả năng trẻ gặp các vấn đề về kỹ năng vận động và phát triển ngôn ngữ. [6] Nhóm Retinoid được hấp thụ rất thấp qua da khi bôi. Tuy nhiên, có 4 trường hợp được báo cáo về dị tật bẩm sinh liên quan đến việc sử dụng Tretinoin tại chỗ, phù hợp với bệnh lý phôi thai do Retinoid.
