[1] Phenoxyethanol được cho là có ảnh hưởng tiêu cực đến trẻ sơ sinh. Năm 2008, FDA từng cảnh báo người tiêu dùng không nên mua Kem núm vú Mommy’s Bliss vì có chứa Phenoxyethanol làm suy yếu hệ thần kinh ở trẻ bú mẹ. Tuy nhiên, theo công bố của American College of Toxicology, Phenoxyethanol không gây độc cho phôi thai hoặc thai nhi ở liều lượng có thể gây độc cho mẹ. [3] Fragrance /Parfum trên nhãn sản phẩm đại diện cho một hỗn hợp không được tiết lộ của nhiều loại hóa chất và thành phần tạo mùi hương. Nó có nguy cơ gây kích ứng da. Thành phần này cũng có thể hấp thụ qua da và được tìm thấy trong sữa mẹ. Đặc biệt, Fragrance thường chứa Phthalate – một loại dung môi giúp cố định hương thơm nhưng có thể hoạt động như hormone và can thiệp vào nội tiết tố cơ thể. Ngoài ra, các công bố gần đây từ Harvard còn cho thấy rằng việc mẹ tiếp xúc với Phthalate trong thời kỳ mang thai có thể làm tăng khả năng trẻ gặp các vấn đề về kỹ năng vận động và phát triển ngôn ngữ. [4] Talc có thể bị nhiễm sợi amiăng, gây nguy cơ ngộ độc đường hô hấp và ung thư. Tuy nhiên, theo công bố mới nhất của FDA vào ngày 5/4/2024 về việc thử nghiệm 50 mẫu mỹ phẩm có chứa Talc thì kết quả cho thấy “Không phát hiện amiăng trong bất kỳ mẫu nào trong số 50 mẫu được thử nghiệm”_(Nguồn FDA). Dù vậy, điều đó không có nghĩa là Talc có trong tất cả các loại mỹ phẩm trên thị trường đều hoàn toàn không chứa Amiăng. Để đảm bảo an toàn tốt nhất, mẹ vẫn nên hạn chế sử dụng các sản phẩm có chứa Talc dưới dạng bột (có thể hít vào) để hạn chế rủi ro về sức khỏe ở mức thấp nhất.
